Greetings
and welcome!
Thanks for your continued interest in what I do. If you would like to review my previous ‘news’ and activities, please click on the Archive menu at the right. For current information and developments, keep reading…HERE’S WHAT’S NEWS: 2007 IN REVIEW TRAVELS:
In the Grace of God I had the privilege of ministering in 40
CITIES in Europe, Asia, Australia, New Zealand and Latin America. Some
destinations were also visited several times, with multiple trips to New York
City, Los Angeles, Singapore, Australia and Florida cities of Orlando, Miami,
Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach. These
opportunities included speaking in many churches, including mega churches such
as Hillsong(Sydney), City Harvest(Singapore), and Calvary Chapel(Ft
Lauderdale)…plus several Bible Colleges and/or related campus events…and for
missions training groups such as Master’s Commission and YWAM.
I served as a keynote for major national and regional Conferences for
Eagles Communications, Master’s Commission, Chi Alpha, and Youth Worker’s
pastoral training at “Target”
and “Salt” and “Lift”
Conferences, as well as for women’s events in Brisbane Australia and
Atlanta. Incidentally, my record
still stands for most services on a Sunday:
7 services in a row, in which I spoke for 45 minutes or more per service!
HIGHLIGHTS
of 2007 INCLUDED: ·
My
daughter got married in June!
It was a joyful celebration
indeed! My wife and I love our new son in law, and his family—we all first met
7 years ago! While The Romance
blossomed out West where his family originates, the New Couple have chosen to
live in Florida for the time being—we are happy to have them near! ·
My
wife and I have celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary
in
August past. As the old saying
goes: ‘A great marriage is where both parties feel they got better than they
deserved’. Certainly that’s true for me!
·
Our
World Tour: I was so thrilled to be able to bring my wife and daughter and
new son in law on a two month speaking tour in Europe, Asia, Australia and New
Zealand. In addition to the joy and
privilege of serving a wide variety of churches and conferences and a European
megamusic festival, my daughter was able to share with her husband many of the
places she’s lived and traveled abroad. It was an awesome time!
Following that tour, I returned to Sydney Australia to speak in church,
conference and Bible College events for the megachurch Hillsong—which
coincided with my 20th anniversary of ministry in Australia/New
Zealand. Thank
You Lord for your years of faithfulness!
2008 PROMISES TO BE BUSY AND
EVENTFUL as
well. If the Lord is willing, and
civilization remains intact enough for another 12 months,
I hope to fulfill the invitations offered by churches, schools and
various conference events. More of that
a little later. FINALLY:
As
I begin my 28th year of full time ministry, I want to
especially thank so many who have remembered my family and I in your thoughts
and PRAYERS! I do not take health,
safety, favor and opportunity for
granted—I believe your prayers have helped to protect us and
pave the way— THANK YOU!!!
I must also thank the many people
who have included me in their events, churches and organizations, and who
have worked so hard, often behind the scenes to plan and organize the many
events in which I participate! All
these items mentioned are not about me and all my busy running around. It’s
all about GOD working in and through people. That’s really all that
matters…not the travel or the various events, but the whole point such efforts
reflect: God drawing people to Himself through Christ.
Will you draw nearer to Him in
2008? That’s my need--and my prayer for you too! Sy |
SO DO YOU EVER GET TIRED OF THE TRAVEL?I love 'why' I go places, perhaps more than the travel itself, although I still
do love travel. I grew up in a family that valued travel and foreign cultures
& world history. When I was a little boy, I didn't know what I wanted to
do in life, but I loved airplanes... which is a good thing since I basically
commute to work in them, logging an average of at least 100,000 miles annually
for about 15 years of my 20 years of full time ministry. This translates to
about 4 to 5... sometimes 6 continents per year. It's been a great education.
My wife and daughter have also traveled a lot with me over the years. It makes
you flexible. Fortunately, my wife grew up in a military family that relocated
every 3 years making her an understanding partner in our unusual lifestyle.
An added bonus, is that many of the places I travel to, I've been to before.
I have friendships established with great people and that makes me feel much
more at home. I've also met some fantastic cabin crew, many whom I see from
time to time so even getting there can be a much nicer experience. |
